SUBSTANCE: system of automatic protection of Ethernet network includes a control domain formed by nodes of multiple rings that support one and the same service VLAN and using one and the same control VLAN. The control domain includes multiple physical rings, besides, some of them may be adjacent; the domain is broken down into composite parts in the form of a hierarchical structure comprising the main ring (MR) and hierarchical connecting segments (CS); the main node (MN) and several transit nodes (TN) are configured for MR and each CS, while the node, which connects at least two levels, is configured as a border node; MN and TN of MR interact with each other to detect condition of the MR communication line and to switch service, when MR fails or restores after failure; MN and TN of each CS interact with each other to detect CS condition and to switch service, when CS of this level fails or restores after failure.
EFFECT: invention prevents deterioration of Ethernet network working characteristics caused by a closed loop that occurred as a result of failure.
