SUBSTANCE: method of determining detergent power of surfactants involves soiling fabric samples, washing the dirty samples and determining their brightness before and after washing. The fabric samples are soiled on a computer laser printer. The front and back sides of the dirty samples are scanned with optical devices and the obtained data are stored on a computer. After washing the dirty samples with detergents, the front and back sides of the samples are scanned with optical devices. The obtained data are stored on the computer and scanning results before and after washing are processed using a Windows graphics program. Characteristics such as "grey percentage" and colour characteristics R, G, B are found, the change of which determines the detergent power of the tested detergents.

EFFECT: simple method of determining detergent power, fewer standard hours for determining detergent power of surfactants.
