FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to room temperature-cured sealant compositions based on silicon thermoplastic resin with low gas permeability, which are suitable for use in making glass, such as windows and doors. The curable sealant composition contains (a) gas permeable diorganopolysiloxane; (b) at least one polymer with gas permeability which is less than that of the diorganopolysiloxane polymer (a) and which is selected from a group comprising low density polyethylene (LDPE), very low density polyethylene (VLDPE), linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE), high density polyethylene(HDPE) and mixtures thereof; (c) a cross-linking agent which is an alkyl silicate of formula: (R14O)(R15O)(R16O)(R17O)Si, where R14, R15, R16 and R17 are independently selected from monovalent C1-C60 hydrocarbon radicals, and (d) a cross-linking reaction catalyst. The sealant composition can contain filler, an adhesion promoter and a nonionic surfactant.
EFFECT: obtaining a sealant with low gas permeability and desired softness characteristics, manufacturability and elasticity.
