SUBSTANCE: invention relates to printed materials of special purpose, such as securities, banknotes, identity cards, and relates to a counterfeit-proof data carrier and method of its manufacturing. Includes at least one section sealed by the metallographic method and consisting of relief lines. The sealed section is made of relief lines coloured along the entire length, alternating with relief lines, having coloured and uncoloured sections, and/or with uncoloured relief lines with the help of a metallographic type form with printed elements in the form of embedded relief lines arranged along a generatrix of a type cylinder and/or at the angle to the generatrix, so that lines of the type form are made of at least two gradations of depth, in process of ink supply to the form in the amount required to fill only lines and/or sections of lines of smaller depth with ink, preserving lines of larger depth as uncoloured.

EFFECT: invention makes it possible to carry out both machine-readable monitoring and visual inspection with considerable increase of efficiency of visual inspection of data carrier authenticity, which does not require additional qualification of the user.
