FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: additive includes base from metal hydroxide as an agent improving fire-resistance and suppressing smoke content. At the first stage of the method there performed is preliminary treatment of the agent, which involves replacement of water which is contained in metal hydroxide with organic solvent compatible with target coating, and drying of the above solid phase of metal hydroxide so that dry powder with average particle size of 1 nm to 10 mcm is obtained. At the second stage the dispersion of dry powder of metal hydroxide is performed by using an agitator. At dispersion stage resin and dispersant is mixed with the above dry powder. At that, the above resin and dispersant is compatible with target coating so that the above additive can be introduced easily and quickly to the coating by adapting viscosity of additive to viscosity of target coating.

EFFECT: low weight losses at combustion during the test as per ASTM D1360.
