METHOD OF GLASS-MAKING SANDS PROCESSING FOR PRODUCTION OF QUARTZ CONCENTRATE Russian patent published in 2012 - IPC B07B9/00

Abstract RU 2456101 C1

FIELD: process engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of glass-making sands processing for production of quartz concentrate. Proposed method comprises discharging glass-making sands from blending stack into bin with vibration grate of the screening Ist stage for removal of lumps exceeding 150 mm to be directed to fine and coarse crushing, feeding sand with humidity of 10% and 0.042 wt% of iron oxide from receiving bin by vibration feeder and belt conveyor to screening IInd stage for sizing to 50 mm on vibration screen. Plus thereof is directed to coarse and fine crushing while undersize is directed for drying in drum dryer. Quartz dust of -0.1-to-0mm-size containing 1.05 wt% of iron oxide is caught by dust arrester. Sands with moisture content of 0.5 wt% are fed after drying via directed chute onto vibration screen for I stage of sizing to 4 mm to produce plus directed by belt conveyor to fine and coarse crushing assembly for sizing to -4.0+0.0 mm fraction to be combined with undersize on classification I stage and fed into receiving device of continuous bucket elevator that feeds the product to belt conveyor and into working bin. Therefrom, material is fed via two distributors to classification II and III stages. Plus sized to -4.0+0.8 mm containing 0.035 wt% and plus of the -0.8+0.63 wt%-fraction containing 0.05 wt% of iron oxide is directed to appropriate finished product bin. Undersize of -0.63+0.1 mm is fed via directed chute to 1st stage of magnetic separation at magnetic induction of 0.4 Tl for removal of strong magnetic inclusions. Thereafter nonmagnetic sand fraction is fed to II stage of magnetic separation to remove submagnetic inclusions at induction of up to 1.7 Tl. Nonmagnetic fraction thereof is fed to IV vacuum classification stage to catch fractions of -0.16+0.1 mm containing 0.99 wt% of iron oxide that make finished product, that is, molding sand. After said vacuum classification, the -0.63+0.16 mm-sand fraction is isolated that contains 0.028 wt% of iron oxide making enriched quartz concentrate.

EFFECT: higher quality and yield, reduced labour input.
