FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: apparatus for measuring flow rate of a fluid medium, its direction and orientation is based on the principle of measuring using thermal sensors and has at least three flow-measuring probes (1, 1a,…,1f). Each of the probes has a sensitive element (2) and a barrier (3) which shields a defined measuring region of the sensitive element. The flow-measuring probes are mounted on bearing supports (7). These bearing supports (7) form said barriers (3), which are elements (4) for shielding the corner sector of the flow-measuring probes from the sensitive element of said probes. The method includes a step for comparing responses of flow-measuring probes using a computer in order to simultaneously estimate three vector components of flow rate on as wide a corner sector as possible.

EFFECT: measuring three spatial vector components of flow in as wide a corner sector as possible while covering as wide a solid angle as possible in an as wide a temperature range as possible.
