SUBSTANCE: given an integer variable x and rational dyadic constants which approximate the irrational fraction, a series of intermediate values which are sign-symmetric may be produced. The intermediate values may include a sequence of addition, subtraction and right shift operations then, when summed together, approximate the product of the integer and irrational value. Other operations, such as additions or subtractions of 0 or shifts by 0 bits may be removed.

EFFECT: minimising algorithm metrics by determining the product of an integer and an irrational value through a sign-symmetric algorithm.
