FIELD: physics, computer engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a locking switch which is meant, for example, for embedding into an elevator cabin, and a method of operating the locking switch. The locking switch (15) for a moving device has key identification means for identifying a key (13) with a bit (13.1) and a key hole (16.2) into which the bit (13.1) is inserted. The key identification means (30) comprise contactless scanning means (32) for scanning at least one part of the bit (13.1) inserted into the key hole (16.2), wherein the scanning means (32) output actual values of the key (13) which is currently inserted into the key hole (16.2). The bit (13.1) goes through the locking switch (15) and the end of the bit (13.1) protrudes outwards. There are storage means (31) for storing reference key (13) values during the initiation phase. There is an electronic comparator (33) which compares actual and reference values and grants permission if said values match.
EFFECT: reducing overall depth of the locking switch compared to conventional locking switches, providing flexibility during operation by enabling use of additional keys, including keys from different manufactures and of different designs.
