SUBSTANCE: in the method of assessment of high frequency band energy in a system of frequency band expansion, an input digital audio signal is received, comprising a narrowband signal, in the first range of frequencies; the assessed level of high frequency band energy is determined, corresponding to an input digital audio signal, in the second range of frequencies, on the basis of characteristics of a narrowband signal, besides, the second range of frequencies is higher by frequency than the first range of frequencies; and the assessed level of high frequency band energy is modified on the basis of characteristics of a narrowband signal. Modification of the assessed level of high frequency band energy includes a stage, at which the assessed level of high frequency band energy is modified on the basis of a sound start instance.
EFFECT: improved quality of an audio signal with an expanded band of frequencies.
