SUBSTANCE: refrigerating and/or freezing unit includes at least one housing and at least one door or hinged cover plate provided with possibility of performing rotational movement about the housing and having the first zone that is restricted by means of a circumferential seal when the door or hinged cover plate is closed. Door or hinged cover plate has at least one second zone located outside that first zone. The second zone includes at least one receiving element, in which one or several functional elements of refrigerating and/or freezing unit are located. Receiving element comprises at least one zone, in which the means acting on the door or hinged cover plate movements are located.

EFFECT: use of the invention allows increasing the refrigerator's free space.
