METHOD AND STRUCTURE TO ABATE DESTRUCTIVE EFFECTS OF TSUNAMI Russian patent published in 2013 - IPC E02B3/04

Abstract RU 2474643 C2

FIELD: process engineering.

SUBSTANCE: breakwaters are erected ahead of shore line and dams ashore. First and next waves are turned around and splitted in front into two parts. One part, 80-90% of front length, is turned by breakwater piers in direction opposite those of the first and next waves to abate counter flows of tsunami waters. Second part, 10-20% of front length, is splitted by gaps between breakwaters of every pier for wave passage there between to abate and retain the waves ahead of dam. Construction comprises systems of breakwaters-piers. Sid breakwaters represent reinforced concrete monolith elements with length varying from 15 to 50 metres. Breakwaters are located ahead of shore line in branches of parabolas, one immediately after another, with gaps between there ends and with osculating branches of parabolas described by formula Y=aX2.Breakwater elements feature trapezoidal cross-section. Note here that said elements are arranged in branches of parabolas so that ends of every branch converging to sea of osculating parabolas-piers feature equal distance from shore line. Dam in installation zone represents a curvilinear reinforced concrete structure with trapezoidal cross-section. Bridge structures are arranged on breakwater surface that make parabolic piers-berths connected by trestles from parabola top to dam. Note here that motor roads or railroads are located on dam and piers.

EFFECT: efficient protection of shore line.
