FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: light-emitting diode (LED) unit has a flat heat-conducting base 9 which is made on one side with conductor strips 24 on a dielectric layer 25 and light-emitting semiconductor elements 10 which are mounted using a heat-resistant polymer adhesive material 26, and lens covers 11 made from translucent polymer material for each semiconductor light-emitting element 10, in the flat base 29 of each of which there is a central socket 33 and each of which is arranged such that each corresponding lens cover 11 of the semiconductor light-emitting element 10 is fitted into the socket 33, which is filled with translucent heat-resistant polymer material. In the base 29 of each lens cover 11, there is an additional depression which is linked by a straight cavity in the base 29 with the socket 33 to displace the translucent heat-resistant polymer material into the additional depression when fitting the lens cover 11 with the semiconductor light-emitting element 10 in the socket 33. On the base 29 of each lens cover 11, for its fastening, there are protrusions lying in through-holes in the heat-conducting base 9 and fused at the ends when assembling with the second side of the heat-conducting base 9.

EFFECT: wider range of LED units for use in illumination devices for prolonged use, high manufacturability of the LED unit and optimisation of heat removal from the semiconductor light-emitting elements and minimisation of the area of the base of the LED unit, having a set of semiconductor light-emitting elements.
