FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: method for converting thermal energy into mechanical one by submersing chambers, containing thermo-sensitive working body, into fluid, increase of chamber volume with increase of their floatability in the result of heat-exchange with fluid, chambers floating up under the influence of floatability forces and reduction of volume and floatability of chambers in the result of heat-exchange with the environment. Substance capable of changing volume at transfer phase is used as thermo-sensitive working body. Note that changing of working body volume is converted into chamber volume changing with proportionality factor exceeding one. As working body there used is a substance from the following: paraffine with carbon atom number in molecule 8-12, acids with carbon atom number in molecule 1-18, n-alcidenaphthalenes with carbon atom number in chain 2-16, benzol derivatives, ceresin.
EFFECT: extension of working body substances range.
