FIELD: radio engineering, communication.

SUBSTANCE: wireless communication device (200), having a first cyclic redundancy check (CRC) coder which generates a first block of CRC parity bits on a transport block and associates the first block of CRC parity bits with the transport block; a segmentation block which segments transport blocks into multiple code bits after association; and a second coder which generates a second block of CRC parity bits on each code block and associates the second block of CRC parity bits with each code block. The first and second blocks of CRC parity bits are based on a first and a second generator polynomial. In one version, the first and second generator polynomials are different. In another version, the generator polynomials are identical and the transport block is interleaved before segmentation or the code block is interleaved before coding with the second block of CRC parity bits.

EFFECT: fewer turbo coding processes, fewer turbo-coding iterations and reduced usage of the turbo-coder memory.
