SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the industry of construction materials and production of expanded clay. The crude mixture for producing expanded clay contains, wt %: montmorillonite clay 73.2-77.4, fibre wastes from primary processing of wool 0.2-0.3, glycerol 0.2-0.3, carboxymethyl cellulose 0.1-0.2, water 22.0-26.0.
EFFECT: high strength of expanded clay made from the crude mixture.
