FIELD: radio engineering, communication.
SUBSTANCE: in order to stabilise amplitude of microwave oscillations in a resonator, the resonator is excited with a pulse modulated microwave signal consisting of a series of two microwave pulses without delay in between them, wherein each pulse has a rectangular envelope of controlled duration and amplitude; injection of a beam of charged particles into the resonator is carried out in pulses with delay relative the beginning of the modulated microwave pulse, wherein the delay time of the injection pulse is selected equal to the duration of the first microwave pulse, the duration of the injection pulse is selected equal to the duration of the second microwave pulse; the amplitude, duration of the first microwave pulse and beam current are selected and recorded, and the amplitude of the second microwave pulse is varied and, if the amplitude of microwave oscillations in the resonator during the second pulse rises, the amplitude of the second pulse is reduced, and if the amplitude of microwave oscillations in the resonator falls, the amplitude of the second pulse is increased to such a value, where the amplitude of microwave oscillations and, consequently, acceleration voltage in the resonator during the second pulse, does not depend on time.
EFFECT: stabilising the amplitude of microwave oscillations in a resonator and obtaining an accelerated beam of charged particles with a narrow energy spectrum.
