FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: steel rod is subjected to finish rolling, steel having the following composition in wt %: 0.07 - 0.14% of aluminium (Al), and nitrogen (N), wherein Al:N, where Al and N stand for wt % of every element and make 15:1 - 25:1 at 850°C to 1050°C. Steel is cooled at the rate of about 5°C/s or lower for making the rod wherein AlN-based nano-inclusions are formed sized to about 130 nm or smaller. Sais rod can be produced using simple composition of alloys without additional thermal treatment.

EFFECT: improved strength and ductility.
