FIELD: packing industry.

SUBSTANCE: folding box comprises a base and two longitudinal and transverse outer walls, each arranged against a paired one and made as capable of folding relative to the base. Each of the longitudinal outer walls includes a ledge placed in direction of the transverse outer walls in the unfolded condition of the box. The ledge is made as capable of limiting folding of transverse outer walls to outside. Each of the transverse outer walls includes a spring pre-stretched locking mechanism installed outside the transverse outer wall, which in the unfolded condition of the box includes a grabbing element made as capable of displacement in the vertical direction relative to the surface of the base and capable of fixation with the ledge of the longitudinal outer wall. The ledge and/or the grabbing element includes contact surfaces that are arranged as inclined relative to the vertical direction in the unfolded condition of the box so that the locking mechanism, whenever a certain force is exceeded, being directed inside and acting at the transverse outer wall, opens due to pre-tensioning of the spring.

EFFECT: box with folding side walls and a locking mechanism provides for its protection against overload.
