METHOD FOR INCREASING OPERATOR'S COGNITIVE ABILITIES Russian patent published in 2014 - IPC A61M16/12 A61G10/00

Abstract RU 2510619 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: individual's hypoxia sensitivity is determined first by a 10-minute hypoxic test with measuring heart rate and oxygen saturation (SpO2) with an increment of min. once per two seconds. The test involves recording individual minimum SpO2 (SpO2 min) and maximum heart rate. An excessive pressure of 0.03 MPa is generated in a pressure chamber; and an individual being tested breathes with a hypoxic-hyperoxic gas mixture heated to 40-80°C; the above mixture is mixed oxygen and helium. Duration of a session is 25-30 minutes. One session consists of 5-7 cycles each of which represents an interchange of the hyperbaric hypoxic exposure to the gas mixture with a volume ratio of oxygen 6% and the hyperbaric hyperoxic exposure to the gas mixture with a volume ratio of oxygen 30%. The hyperoxic test is conducted to achieve either minimum SpO2, or maximum heart rate, according as which event occurs first. The hyperoxic test is conducted to achieve initial SpO2 and heart rate. The number of daily sessions makes 3-7.

EFFECT: method enables improving sensation, attention, memory, thinking, ability to combined action ensured by the hypoxic and hyperoxic exposure with the heated oxygen-helium gas mixtures promoting the optimised body temperature and higher compensatory-adaptive body capabilities due to cyclic hypoxia and hyperoxia with the exposure length specified individually on the basis of biological feedback depending on the individual's fitness growth.
