SUBSTANCE: invention refers to veterinary science, particularly to methods of treating systemic diseases in small productive animals. An antibacterial preparation is administered in a therapeutic dose intramuscularly into the posterior thigh muscles twice a day, while a vasodilator is administered into the posterior thigh muscles in a biological dose of 0.15 mg/kg 15 minutes before the therapeutic concentration of the antibacterial preparation is achieved in animal's blood. The vasodilator is nicotinic acid, while the antibacterial preparation is 10% chloramphenicol in 0.5% novocaine at 30 mg/kg. The therapeutic concentration of the antibacterial preparation in the animal's intraocular fluid is achieved 2 hours after the administration of the antibacterial preparation.

EFFECT: method of treating the systemic diseases reducing a probability of the onset of the secondary ophthalmic pathologies in the small productive animals involves administering the antibacterial preparation and vasodilator.
