FIELD: transport.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to transportation and can be used for transfer of envelopes in vertical orientation. Proposed device comprises two pairs of conveyor assemblies. At least one pair of said conveyor assemblies can incorporate deflectors. There are designed to engage with envelope side edges. Section of one said pair overlaps the second pair of conveyor assemblies. Proposed method consists in placing of the envelope between the first set of deflectors. Said first set is displaced. Envelope if displaced to second set of deflectors. Said second set is displaced.

EFFECT: transfer of envelopes with clearance there between, sometimes the flow of envelopes being interrupted.
