FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a water-soluble reactant for organic synthesis - potassium 4-iodylbenzene sulphonate of formula , as well as a method for production thereof, which includes sulphonating iodobenzene while mixing with sulphuric acid with concentration of 94-98% at 40-60°C with ratio of iodobenzene to sulphuric acid of 1:4-6 for 30-40 hours, wherein every 5 hours, sulphonic acid crystals are filtered out or extracted with hot chloroform; the obtained 4-iodobenzene sulphonic acid is acidified with OXONE by adding 2×6.14 g portions every 30 minutes; the reaction mass is then heated to 50-60°C and held for 2 hours, followed by cooling to 0°C, filtering out and washing the precipitate on a filter with cold water.
EFFECT: obtaining potassium 4-iodylsulphonate, which can be used in organic and pharmaceutical chemistry as an organic synthesis reactant.
