FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metal forming. Heated billet is loaded to cause high-intensity strain at temperature-rate conditions that allow dynamic recrystallisation, secondary phase minimisation and creation of fine-grain structure. In compliance with first version, said billet is subjected to torsion and expansion or torsion and contraction stress. Heating is performed locally with displacement of heating zone along billet axis. Stress is applied after heating of every zone. This process is implements at a lathe. Billet is clamped in spindle chuck and chuck-gripper fixed at lathe tailstock. It is heated by replaceable circular inductor to be fixed at lathe moving support. In compliance with second version, stress is applied by forging at passes with changing of strain axis by turning through 5-90 degrees. Rate of deformation makes at least 20% per pass.
EFFECT: homogeneous microstructure over all sections.
