SUBSTANCE: invention relates to computer engineering, namely, to downloading of data packets from a network. The method of effective data packet download is proposed for a client device configured for operation in a network. The method includes a stage, at which they send a list of identifiers of existing packets of content stored at the client device to a server operating in the network. And also a response is received from the server comprising a list of identifiers of one or several parts of the data packet corresponding to one or several existing elements of content stored at the client device. Besides, they collect one or several identified parts of content inside the data packet from existing elements of content stored at the client device, and request the remaining part of the data packet from the server.
EFFECT: reduced volume of data stored at a client computer.
