SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to processing input/output operations. The method includes generating, by a channel subsystem of a host computer system, at least one command message including one or more device command words (DCW), at least one DCW including a suppress-length indicator (SLI) configured to instruct a control device whether to continue to perform the input/output operation when the control device detects mismatch of the data count with the amount of data required; receiving an incorrect length (IL) value, the IL value being a first IL value, if the SLI value is a first SLI value, and the data count does not match the amount of data required; and in response to receiving an IL value from the control device, storing the IL indicator in a subchannel status word.
EFFECT: easy processing of said operations.
