FIELD: physics, computer engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to digital signal processing and specifically to performing reversible discrete wavelet transform. The method includes applying sampling with a factor 2 to low-frequency and high-frequency components obtained from forward wavelet transform, convolution with filters and summation to obtain an accurate approximation of the source signal, wherein an input sequence is divided into two different parts and for processing the second part, coefficients used to form a plurality of filters, are selected in reverse order. Replacement is carried out during forward and inverse wavelet transform at each decomposition and reconstruction level.
EFFECT: ensuring signal restorability when changing the processing direction after forward wavelet transform.
