SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a film-forming composition intended for application on the outer surface of a building, which contains an agent capable of trapping formaldehyde. The film-forming composition contains a dispersion phase, binder, pigments, filler, additives and an agent capable of trapping formaldehyde, selected from compounds with an active methylene group/groups of one of the following formulae (I)-(IV): Formula , wherein R1 and R2, identical or different, denote a hydrogen atom, a C1-C20 alkyl radical, preferably C1-C6, an amino radical or a radical of formula wherein R4 denotes a or radical, where R5=H or -CH3 and p is an integer from 1 to 6; R3 denotes a hydrogen atom, a C1-C10 alkyl radical, a phenyl radical or a halogen atom, a equals 0 or 1, b equals 0 or 1, n equals 1 or 2; Formula , wherein R6 denotes a cyano radical or a radical, wherein R8 denotes a hydrogen atom, a C1-C20 alkyl radical, preferably C1-C6, or an amino radical, c equals 0 or 1; R7 denotes a hydrogen atom, a C1-C10 alkyl radical, a phenyl radical or a halogen atom; Formula , wherein R9 denotes a -C≡N or -CO-CH3 radical, q is an integer from 1 to 4; Formula wherein A denotes a -(CH2)3- or -C(CH3)2- radical, r equals 0 or 1. The invention also relates to the use of said film-forming composition to reduce the amount of formaldehyde in air inside a building.
