FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a process for destruction of sulphur mustards and can be used for the destruction of blister agents. A process for the destruction of long-term storage sulphur mustards with high oil content and long-term storage mustard-lewisite mixtures with high oil content by their reaction with dichloramine in aqueous medium under heterophase conditions in the presence of a phase transfer catalyst (N,N,N-trialkyl-N-benzyl-ammonium chloride), with the dichloramine amount of 10-15%; wherein the destruction process is resulted in the production of a co-catalyst due to the reaction between an alkali metal hydroxide and dichloramine.
EFFECT: effective method for destruction of long-term storage oily sulphur mustards and mustard-lewisite mixtures without using organic solvents, resulting in non-hazardous residual concentrations of toxic agents.
