FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: porcelain mixture contains, wt %: kaolin 50.0-55.0; feldspar 24.0-26.0; quartz 13.0-17.0; apatite 2.5-3.5; borax which is fired until a vitreous substance forms 3.5-5.5. Components are fed in the required amounts, loaded into a ball mill, followed by addition of water and grinding for 8-12 hours. The degree of fineness of the finished slurry should match a 1.5-2% residue on a 0056 sieve. The suspension is then dried until a cake with moisture content of 20-25% is obtained. The obtained porcelain mixture is then moulded using a plastic method into articles which are then dried to moisture content of 1-6%, followed by a first firing step at 900-910°C and a second (glaze) firing step at 1300-1310°C.
EFFECT: lower firing temperature of the porcelain mixture.
