FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to prosthetic appliances applicable for tissue repair, particularly to surgical silk mesh appliances having a stable knitted structure. A knitted surgical mesh implant consisting of substantially two groups of wires intermeshed to form a line of knots; the above two groups of wires represent a first group of wires with a first segment and a second group of wires with a second segment extending between the knots; the first segment is longer than the second one, and the second segment of the second group of wires has a greater knot tension than the first segment of the first group of wires so that the second segment of the second group of wires thereby substantially prevents the first segment of the first group of wires from displacing in the knots and thereby substantially prevents the knitted mesh from unknitting in the knots; (i) the first segment of the first wire has an intermediate stitch between the knots, whereas (ii) the second segment of the second wire forms no intermediate stitch between the knots; the first group of wires and the second group of wires are made of different materials; the first group of wires and the second group of wires have different diameters; the first group of wires and the second group of wires have different elasticity characteristics.
EFFECT: object of the invention is creating the biocompatible and absorbable surgical mesh maintaining the physiological load on patient's collagen tissue and minimising tissue erosion.
