FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: pipes are formed out of round pipes by two runs in rough and finish passes with forming during rough run of the pipe with convex cross-section, and during finish run - pipe with rectangular cross-section. During the rough run the pipe is formed in the pass made by two rolls, their work surfaces creating the pass bottom are made concave with concavity radius R = (4.2÷9.5) of length of side of rectangular pipe corresponding to pass roll, and side work surfaces are conical with specified angle of pass, at that total swaging in the rough and finish passes over the pipe perimeter is 0.4÷1%.
EFFECT: reduced wear and consumption of roll tool, increased quality of pipes and reduced power consumption.
