FIELD: testing technology.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a compact clamping device (50) for a pipe, suitable for use in a unit for hydraulic pressure tests in order to control the quality of the pipe produced by electric resistance welding. On the fixed base (51), the raisable and lowerable base (52) is placed with the possibility of raising and lowering, comprising a body (55) in it, supporting the pipe. In the positions between there is the body (55) supporting the pipe of the raisable and lowerable base (52) the clamping grips (56) are located, capable to be rotated. The raisable and lowerable base (52) there is a housing (58) of the drive of the grips for independent raising and lowering the raisable and lowerable base (52). Opposite side portions of the housing (58) of the drive of the grips are connected to the opposite clamping grips (56) by the links (59) so that they can turn the clamping grips (56) in the closing directions by lowering relative to the raisable and lowerable base (52). On the fixed base (51) a first drive mechanism (53) is mounted, intended to drive the raisable and lowerable base (52) for raising and lowering, and a second housing (54) of the drive intended for driving the housing (58) of the drive of the grips for raising and lowering.

EFFECT: increase of compactness and ease of design to ensure its reliability.
