FIELD: electricity.

SUBSTANCE: cathode includes the base of electroconductive porous material permeable for molecular oxygen, at which surface there is applied polymer complex compound of transient metal with Schiff's base having stack structure, wherein separate fragments of the above polymer compound are interconnected due to donor-acceptor interaction, for example, compound of poly-[M(R, R'-Salen)], poly-[M(R, R'-Saltmen)] or poly-[M(R, R'-Salphen)] type. The current source includes the described cathode and anode made of active metal, in particular, of lithium. At that the cathode and anode are separated by electrolyte containing ions of the metal used for manufacture of the anode.

EFFECT: increased specific energy, specific power and number of charge and discharge cycles of the metal-air current source.
