FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: device operation and method implementation are particularly based on eye illumination with a light source having at least wave length or polarisation or a combination thereof, each of which is suitable to induce fluorescence in at least an amyloid-binding compound. The amyloid-binding compound is bound to an amyloid protein; the amyloid-binding compound is introduced into an eye and specifically binds to the amyloid protein indicating an amyloidogenic disease; the light including the fluorescence induced by the light illumination is intercepted; a fluorescence decay time is determined taking into account that the fluorescence is at least induced by the amyloid-binding compound bound to the amyloid protein; a detectability of the amyloid-binding compound bound to the amyloid protein is stated on the basis of at least the decay time. The procedure of stating the detectability involves counting single photons of the time-correlated eye-induced fluorescence.
EFFECT: declared group allows the early detection of the disease associated with an increase in eye tissue amyloid protein or stating a risk of this disease.
