SUBSTANCE: invention relates to control of external input, user voice recognition of in an interactive voice recognition system. Disclosed is a method of controlling external input and a broadcast receiving device, such as a television set, where method comprises steps of: setting a word for calling an external input device, connected by means of external input connector, for example audio/video (AV) socket, component connector and connector for high-definition multimedia interface (HDMI); associating word for calling with external input connector and word for calling and external input connector associated with each other; in response to input user voice, recognising voice in order to determine whether voice includes word for calling; and in response to determination that voice includes word for calling, activating external input connector corresponding to word for calling for communication with external input device using external input connector corresponding to word for calling.
