FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metal forming at helical rolling mills. Mandrel features variable profile. In mandrel front end, which first contacts with workpiece during piercing through round hole with lead-in cone is made. Hole axis coincides with axis of mandrel, diameter of holes is in 4.5-5 times less than maximum external diameter of mandrel, hole depth is in 2.5-3 times less than length of mandrel. Lead-in cone angle varies from 50 to 65 degrees, depth of lead-in cone is 5 mm.
EFFECT: possibility of removal of defects of continuously cast billet, reduced wall thickness variation in produced sleeves.
