FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to lifting system and a method of reducing undesirable noise when belt comes into contact with pulley. Elevator system comprises elevator car, counterweight, at least one belt connecting car and counterweight, and at least one pulley having at least one surface for engagement with said at least one belt. Belt is flat. At least part of said at least one surface has a plurality of features for interaction with a flat belt to reduce undesirable noise when belt is in contact with pulley. Said features comprise cavities with depth greater than approximately 30 mcm, or protrusions with height of 20-100 mcm, to provide local surface slip between said at least one flat belt and said at least one surface for dissipation of energy of deformation caused by shift between said at least one flat belt and said at least one surface. Method employs a pulley with said plurality of said features.
EFFECT: invention provides improved conditions for reducing undesirable noise in elevator system.
