SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, specifically to ophthalmology, and can be used to determine an optimum level of vacuum for surgical treatment of vitreofoveolar traction syndrome. Using optical coherence tomography in patients with vitreofoveolar traction syndrome prior to operation, retinal thickness is measured in foveola. Speed of vitreous cutters is set. Vacuum level (P) is calculated by a formula.

EFFECT: method enables to perform sparing surgical treatment, prevents complications by determining optimum level of vacuum.
