SUBSTANCE: invention relates to geostatic technologies and, in particular, to systems for computer geo-modelling. Disclosed is a method for selecting a facies model realisation. Method includes a step of selecting a grid-cell or window location for a facies model realisation. Method then includes selecting a most prominent facies for facies within facies model realisation at grid-cell or window location. Method includes calculating a volume comprising selected grid-cell or window location using a computer processor, and calculating a facies net volume based on most prominent facies selected and volume. Method also includes calculating a probability density function of facies net volume and calculating a cumulative distribution function of facies net volume using probability density function.
EFFECT: technical result is automated selection of facies model realisation based on cumulative distribution function for facies net volume.
