SUBSTANCE: container (1) is filled with fire extinguishing liquid so that predefined volume (6) remains unfilled. By means of gas supply, for example through filling nozzle (2), pressure in extinguishing liquid container is raised standby pressure (P2), which is higher than switching point (Psw) of pressure sensor or pressure switch (3). When amount of extinguishing liquid (5) in extinguishing liquid container (1) decreases, pressure (P2) of extinguishing liquid container (1) decreases from standby pressure (P2) as fraction of gas volume increases. As a consequence of decrease in amount of extinguishing liquid and when pressure decreases from standby pressure to a second, lower value, which is set as switching limit (Psw) of pressure sensor or pressure switch (3), pressure sensor or pressure switch (3) gives a signal, on basis of which a notification is obtained about low amount of liquid in extinguishing medium container. EFFECT: disclosed is a method of controlling amount of liquid in extinguishing liquid container (1) of fire extinguishing apparatus.
