FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy, namely to steel material used for making shock absorbing elements. Material contains, wt%: C is more than 0.05-0.18, Mn 1-3, Si is more than 0.5-1.8, Al 0.01-0.5, N 0.001-0.015, one or both of V and Ti: in total of 0.01-0.3, Cr 0-0.25, Mo 0-0.35, Fe and impurities are rest. Structure comprises 80% or more of Bainite in % by area and 5% or more in amount of one or two or more selected from a group consisting of ferrite, martensite and austenite in % by area. Average size of Bainite block is less than 2.0 mqm, and average grain diameter of all above ferrite, martensite and austenite is less than 1.0 mqm. Average nano hardness of Bainite is 4.0 GPa - 5.0 GPa, and MX-type carbides, each having diameter of equivalent circle of 10 nm or more, can be present with average inter grain distance of 300 nm or less between them.
EFFECT: higher impact energy absorption.
