FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing a catalyst for oxidative conversion (oxidative dehydrogenation of) ethane to ethylene. Described is a method of producing oxide catalysts of composition Mo1VaTebNbcOx, where a=0.20-0.40, b=0.15-0.35, c=0.05-0.25, x is number of oxygen atoms required for observation of electroneutrality, which includes steps of producing wet precursor, containing Mo, V, Te and Nb with a given atomic ratio, removal of solvent using a spray dryer, then drying on air and stepwise tempering of dry precursor. Wet precursor is prepared using a fresh solution of niobium oxalate with ratio C2O42-/Nb in range of 3.0/1-3.5/1, and dry precursor is subjected to drying on air in temperature range 120-210 °C for not more than 12 hours.

EFFECT: fewer process steps and output of ethylene higher than 72 %.
