FIELD: engines and pumps.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in turbo-compound engine units. Engine unit comprises internal combustion engine (1), which includes inlet (2) and outlet (20) lines, low pressure compressor (11), high pressure compressor (5), high pressure turbine (6), low pressure turbine (7) and first bypass mechanism (3, 4). Low pressure compressor (11) and high pressure compressor (5) are installed in intake line (2) in air flow direction. High pressure turbine (6) and low pressure turbine (7) are installed in discharge line in series in gases flow direction. First bypass mechanism (3, 4) is intended to bypass the high pressure compressor (5). High pressure turbine (6) is connected with low pressure compressor (11) shaft. Engine unit comprises electric torque converter (55). Electric torque converter (55) includes electric generator (30), installed with possibility to be driven from low pressure turbine (7), first electric motor (32) installed with possibility to drive high pressure compressor (5), and inverter (31). Inverter (31) is intended to convert electrical energy generated by electric generator (30), and to supply and control first electric motor (32). Invention discloses vehicle containing engine unit, and method of engine unit controlling.
EFFECT: technical result is increasing specific power and reduction of exhaust gases smokiness.
