FIELD: mining.
SUBSTANCE: to determine characteristics of gas-oil transition zone, at least one sample each is collected from gas part and oil part of a deposit. Formation temperature and pressure are measured at points of sampling formation fluids and density and compositions of collected samples are determined. Obtained density, compositions and measured values of pressure and temperature are used to adjust equations of state of hydrocarbon mixtures. Porosity, water saturation and total hydrogen-content of saturated rock are measured along well bore. Based on measured values of porosity and water saturation of rock volume of hydrocarbon phases is calculated, and based on measured values of total hydrogen-content of saturated rock hydrogen content of hydrocarbon phases is determined. Using equation of state of hydrocarbon mixtures, density and composition of hydrocarbon phases along well are calculated. Calculated values of density and composition of hydrocarbon phases along well are used to determine specific hydrogen content in gas and oil along well. Determined specific hydrogen content, hydrogen content of hydrocarbon phases and measured porosity are used to determine distribution of gas and oil saturation along well.
EFFECT: disclosed is a method of geophysical survey of wells for oil deposits with gas caps with known mineralogical composition making up rocks.
