FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of coherent sources of gamma-radiation and can be used in various physical applications. Method of creating inverted population of nuclear levels in material of active medium and initiation of coherent single-pass gamma-radiation includes transfer of some portion of nuclei to excited metastable state and consists in fact that used material of active medium is radionuclide, wherein transfer of nuclei of excited metastable state is performed through gamma-radiation, material of active medium is represented by radionuclide, where beta decay of nuclei of type X(A,Z)→Y(A,Z-1) is performed, while maintaining parity of initial and intermediate excited conditions; radionuclide is placed into longitudinal uniform magnetic field such, that energy levels of maternal and daughter radionuclide nuclei acquire in magnetic field super-thin energy structure with quantum characteristics of sublevels, characterizing selective acceleration of beta-decay for part of maternal nuclei, and maintaining stability of intermediate excited state of daughter nuclei, for period not exceeding lifetime of metastable state of working intermediate energy level of daughter nuclei but sufficient for creation of required population inversion of this level; radio pulses of cross magnetic excitation are injected in material of active medium in following sequence: supply π/2-radio pulse of low amplitude, after action of π/2-radio pulse quarter period of phase relaxation follows, after quarter period of phase relaxation π-low-amplitude radio pulse is supplied after action of π-radio pulse half-period of phase relaxation follows, after half-period of phase relaxation short radio pulse of high amplitude is supplied.
EFFECT: technical result is increased efficiency of using material of active medium for generation of single-pass coherent gamma-radiation.
