FIELD: lighting.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the method for determining the distance from the sensor to the lighting device. The claimed lighting device includes, at least, the first light source configured to emit the first light beam intended to illuminate the determined area and the second light source configured to emit the second light beam intended to illuminate the background region surrounding the determined area. The sensor, which is incorporated within the other lighting device, is intended to detect the first and the second back-reflected light beams. The method includes determining the distance from the sensor to the lighting device, at least, partially based on comparing the information indicating the level of the detected signal, of the first back-reflected light beam, and the information indicating the level of the detected signal, of the second back-reflected light beam.

EFFECT: invention provides improved accuracy in determining the distance from the sensor to the lighting device.
