SUBSTANCE: method for managing anti-virus records on a set of users' computers is proposed. For a given time, the parameters of the anti-virus record with the status "active" are collected when it triggers on users' computers. The statistics on the activation of the anti-virus record is collected and the total number of users' computers, on which the anti-virus record has triggered, is determined. Using the parameters of the anti-virus record and the statistics of the activation of the anti-virus record they determine whether the anti-virus record belongs to the class of anti-virus records, the usage of which causes a false activation if the specified total number of users' computers exceeds the specified threshold value. The status of the anti-virus record is changed from "active" to "test" and the changed anti-virus record status is sent to the anti-virus application, installed on the users' computers.

EFFECT: reducing the number of anti-virus records on users' computers, the use of which by an anti-virus application causes false activations.
