FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: ion-plasma deposition of coating layers consisting of a lower layer of titanium nitride, an intermediate layer-nitride of the titanium compound and chromium is carried out at a ratio, wt %: titanium 83.5-86.5, chromium 13.5-16.5 and the upper layer is the nitride of the titanium, chromium and molybdenum compound at the ratio, wt %: titanium 83.5-87.0, chromium 9.0-11.0, molybdenum 4.0-5.5. The application of the coating layers is carried out horizontally in one plane by three cathodes, the first of which is made up of a composite of titanium and chromium. The second cathode consists of zirconium and is located opposite to the first one, and the third cathode consists of titanium and is located between them. The lower layer is applied using a third cathode, the intermediate layer using first and third cathodes, and the top layer using all three cathodes.
EFFECT: higher cutting efficiency.
