FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: method consists in isolating the current signal and the phase displacement angle between current and voltage (Cos ϕ) and comparing their product with the given values of the current and Cos ϕ product. The pump overloading and dry running protection device comprises a power supply unit, an indicating unit, a supply voltage monitoring unit, a current signal generation unit, a power module control unit, a power unit, an external control unit, a microcontroller with a built-in function for isolating the circuit voltage transition through 0 and a reference voltage unit.
EFFECT: increase in reliability and speed of protection of pumps of various types from overloading and dry running under different workloads on them and lack of a water flow sensor.
